Members are invited to breakfast and a guided tour of Jeanne Jaffe's solo exhibition, Before I Wake, on view at Spinello Projects.

Spanning work from 1997 to 2024, Before I Wake offers a journey through Jaffe's evolving visual vocabulary across a variety of mediums, including sculpture, printmaking, drawing, and stop-motion animation. Jaffe began her professional career studying archeology and anthropology, examining how people create and express meaning and values through objects, rituals, and behaviors. Much of Jaffe’s work creates a language that explores the realms of the unconscious and dream states, all aspects of experience where meaning is created through metaphor, multiple associations, memory, and collective storytelling. Her work has a connection to surrealism, where the world and its forms are familiar yet strange and a bit unsettling.
